Volunteer Veterans Conservation Corp

The VVCC is sponsored by both the Friends of Moraine Hills State Park and the Friends of Volo Bog.  A cooperative effort of the IDNR and the Veterans Assistance Commission of McHenry County to provide opportunies for veterans to continue serving their country by assisting with and developing projects to enhance our state parks and natural areas.  Thus far the VVCC has constructed more than 100 bluebird houses, a chimmeny swift tower, Seed Sorters, Leopold benches, and the latest project is a kiosk in the Whitetail Prairie area of Moraine Hills State Park.  During the winter months, we work in the heated garage located behind the visitor center of Volo Bog. every other Saturday 9:30 am - 12:00 pm.
