Osprey Watch on July 19th!

The osprey pair at the Lake Defiance nesting platform have THREE chicks! They were spotted by an Audubon society member. It takes along time to raise osprey kids - about 8 weeks to fledge from the nest, and then another 2 months of being fed by mom and dad, so there will be lots of viewing action this summer! At this time, they have fledged, but they will still hang around - keep your eyes peeled.

Adults and attentive kids ages 6 and up can join us on July 19th from 8:30-10:00 a.m. to see these majestic birds. Park at the Oak Opening lot, and walk up the hill to the Lake Defiance connector trail and turn right.

Bring binoculars and field guides -because of COVID protocols, we are not loaning our binoculars, and are requesting that you wear a mask if a 6-foot distance is difficult. Walk-ins are welcome, but group size will be limited to 10 people, so stop by for a bit, and then move on to allow others to enjoy the action.
