COVID 19 Information

  • **The Nature Center is open sporadically, pending the availability of staff and volunteers.  When the "OPEN" flag is flying at the office parking lot, visitors can enjoy the exhibits. The center is limited to a maximum of 20 people, including staff. Proper mask wearing is required regardless of vaccination status against COVID19.

  • 10 miles of trails will be available for hikers, walkers, and cyclists as well as day use areas.

  • Boats brought in by car top can be carried in to Lake Defiance and the Fox River and both are open for boaters and fisherman. Inflatable crafts are not allowed.

  • Shoreline fishing will be open at McHenry Dam. Bait, boat rental and snacks can be purchased from Fish Tales Bait and Concession onsite.

  • 14 pit toilets open.

  • Flush toilets and handwashing available at Moraine Hills and McHenry Dam

  • Trails are open to walking and biking throughout the park.

  • Picnicking available at designated areas throughout the park (Must adhere to social distancing guidelines set forth by the State).
