The Friends of Moraine Hills State Park

Moraine Hills State Park Native Garden Plants

All the plants listed below were native to Lake County, before so much of our land was plowed under for farming, etc.

We started out this year, 2007, with seven volunteer gardeners and a coordinator to handle five of the park garden

plots, trying to identify the plants and maintain them. We are looking for additional volunteer gardeners to work these

very large plots, and expand to others. There is no better way to learn about nature then to work with it. We schedule

FREE Wild Flower walks at Moraine Hills, and you will find most of these same plants growing wild outside these plots.
