Family Fishing Day 2010

June 12th started out very rainy and visitor participation was small, but we did have five of our seven FOMHSP board members there, plus the Park Superintendent, Gregg Kelly and our Naturalist, Stacy Iwanicki. Board Member Paul Howard and his wife provided lunch, hot off the grill, to the Board members, while the Friends group along with Gill’s concession stand provided refreshments for all participating children. It wasn’t the best fishing day we ever had, but board member, Mike Iwanicki, caught a Freshwater Drum .

Family Fishing Day 2011

June 11th was a cloudy cool day with no rain. Stacy Iwanicki the Site Naturalist and the following 9 volunteers: Pat & Phil Copp; Chris Bordis; Mary Latham; Chuck Wooderson;  and Board Members Judy Wooderson, Neil Whitman, David Albright, & Bob Vetter hosted the event. We  did better this year in the fact that 3 Fresh Water Drum were caught, plus we offered instructions on how to properly use binoculars;  sound mapping: and a hands on study of water invertebrate. We were also set up to read stories and play various fun games. There were handouts for everyone, plus all the children were given coupons to cash in at Gill’s refreshment stand.
