Volo Bog & Moraine Hills/McHenry Dam Volunteers Honored
On Thursday, December 13, thirty-one dedicated individuals were honored for
their volunteer services at
Special Recognition was give to Bob Vetter of Grayslake as Volunteer of the
Year for both sites. Bob's tireless devotion (over 550 hours) between the
two sites) spanned multiple duties and talents. He serves as a
Weekend Naturalist, leading guided tours
of Volo Bog on one or more weekend day each month. He also coordinates
the Prairie Gardeners (Volo Bog) and
Native Gardeners (Moraine Hills) who tend to various
Mr. Vetter is a resident of Saddlebrook Farms, a retirement community in
Grayslake, where he often promotes Volo Bog and its programs. He was
presented with a Volunteer-of-the-Year plaque by Site Superintendent Greg Kelly
and Site Naturalist Stacy Iwanicki. He also received a Certificate of Appreciation
and a Centurion Award plaque which is presented to all volunteers contributing
over 100 hours for a given year.

Illinois Department of Natural Resources at Volo Bog/Moraine Hills for
contributing 50 - 99 hours each to Volo Bog and/or Moraine Hills in 2007:
